Because the American Shorthair can come in well over a hundred different colors and patterns, it's distinguished by its strong body, wide chest, round eyes, and big hind legs. These friendly and quiet cats are also known for their longevity and hearty health. The average lifespan of an American Shorthair is 15 to 20 years!
Because the American Shorthair is so gentle and quiet, they're very amiable with children and other pets. You'll also find they make great lap cats and are very easily trained.
