The Bedlington Terrier has a distinct face that makes it look almost lamb-like. With a sweet temperament, mid-size stature and unique face, people tend to fall in love with the intelligent Bedlington almost right away.

Though not an outdoor-living dog, the Bedlington Terrier loves a good romp outside and in any kind of weather. Unlike many terriers though, they’re calm in the house and like to take it easy once the excitement has died down.

The Bedlington Terrier is amiable and easygoing, so it gets along wonderfully with other pets as well as young children. Because of its down-like coat and interesting appearance, the Bedlington tends to attract a lot of attention, but he takes it like a pro and is rarely short with strangers or guests unless he perceives a threat.

Bedlingtons are natural vermin hunters so they love to chase mice and rats. If you do have mice in the house, expect to find a few “presents” at your doorstep or next to your shoes. Your Bedlington is just trying to show you what a good job it is doing.

When it comes to grooming, you can groom a Bedlington yourself, but many people get it done by a professional. The ears need regular cleaning and the fancy show-grooming style for a Bedlington Terrier can be very time consuming.

In terms of health issues, veterinarians and breeders suggest that you ask about the dog’s risk for cataracts, patellar luxation, heart disease, copper toxicosis and detached retinas.
