Adult Weight: 9-14 lbs.Breed: Colorpoint Shorthair
- Shorthair
- Good for those with allergies
- Loyal, but independent
Much like its Siamese cousin, the Colorpoint Shorthair has a lithe, but muscular shape and a pale body with darker colored points (that is, ears, tail, face, and limbs). This shorthair breed is also known for producing very little dander, and so is often recommended for those with allergies who are looking to own a cat. Unlike the Siamese, the Colorpoint Shorthair comes in a wide variety of colors, with red being one of the most common.
Though this breed can be very independent, they're also quite loving and very attentive. They're known for bonding well with all family members, including children. The Colorpoint Shorthair can also be very active and interactive. Known for their curiosity and love of heights, this breed can be a little bit snoopy. So, if you're ever having trouble tracking down your feline friend, try checking the roof beams or even, perhaps, the air ducts.
Like the Siamese, the Colorpoint Shorthair can be quite talkative and likes to meow and participate in conversations. If you prefer a quieter cat, this may not be the breed for you.
The specific distinction of the 'Colorpoint Shorthair' is one given by the CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association) in the United States. It is given to cats of Siamese ancestry that diverge from the typical four 'Siamese colors.' In other countries, these cats are referred to as Siamese.
