This medium to large sized cat has a very big head, and I mean that in the best way possible. The Exotic Longhairs are known not only for their luxurious coats, but also their large skulls and footballer necks. Topped by big, round eyes and tiny, rounded ears, this cat always seems to be wearing a sweet and loving expression.

Because their coats are so long, Exotic Longhairs will require daily combing. With practice from a young age, these cats can also be quite comfortable with the routine bathing and blow-drying you may need to do. Also, never bathe your Exotic Longhair without drying the coat, the tangles will be there for life.

Though strictly an indoor cat, the Exotic Longhair still likes to play and can enjoy chewing on cords or shiny things, so try to provide toys for them. That said, they are fairly docile and seem to love nothing more than cuddling up with you or enjoying a bit of lap time before bed.

The Exotic Longhair is a longhaired version of the Exotic Shorthair, both created out of Persian and Himalayan hybrids. It is a fairly new breed currently recognized by the CCA (Canadian Cat Association), but not the American CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association).
