Much like its Exotic Longhair brother, the Exotic Shorthair is characterized by its large head and adorably small ears. With big round eyes that captivate you and a small button nose, this cat has a sweet and smiling expression that will make you fall in love. They are differentiated by their shorthair coats, which are not only teddy bear plush and soft, but are also easy to maintain.

Though quite content to snuggle up for nap time, the Exotic Shorthair is still playful and quite curious. They're a touch more active than their Persian cousins, and do enjoy playing with toys or, of course, your important papers, phone cords, or jewelry. The Exotics are known to move things, and have a bit of a reputation for being thieves, but they mean it in the best way possible.

Both Exotic breeds, the shorthair and the longhair, are considered indoor cats and can be sensitive, in terms of both health and emotional well-being.

The Exotic Shorthair is a breed, recognized by the American CFA (Cat Fanciers' Association), born out of the hybrid breeds that were being created between Himalayans and Persians with other shorthair breeds. It is a brother to the Exotic Longhair.
