The Havana Brown is an older breed related to the Siamese. These chocolate brown beauties are distinguished by their big, green eyes and very shiny coats that have an almost mink-like feel to them. They have lithe and muscular bodies and, like a Siamese, the Havana Brown have large, pointed ears and an elongated face that give them a look of alertness.

Havana Browns are known for being very hands-on, or rather 'paws-on.' They like to use their paws to get your attention, explore new things by touching, or just to shake hands as a greeting. Havanas, as they are simply referred to in Europe, are also very adaptable and fit in well in new surroundings. They like people and are very sociable family cats.

Though once linked to the Siamese, the Havana Brown is a distinct breed and the result of a long and careful breeding program that began in England by bringing together chocolate pointed Siamese and black shorthairs. Also known as the Swiss Mountain Cat, the Havana Brown is believed to have gotten its name from the chocolate color of Havana cigars.
