The Peruvian Inca Orchid, or Moonflower, is famous for being hairless. This makes them the ideal pet for allergy sufferers. They are also known to be good with children and adapt easily to almost any household. In some cases, they may chase smaller animals.

Typically, the Peruvian Inca Orchid enjoys constant company. Even though they are good natured and comfortable with other animals, their lack of hair can make them prone to scratches and other skin damage. Care should be taken to ensure these dogs do not suffer because of their lack of fur.

Peruvian Inca Orchids are quiet and intelligent. If possible, it’s better to walk these dogs at night, when they will be less likely to get sunburned. Because their eyes are very sensitive to light, they tend to be more nocturnal than other dogs.

Even though the Peruvian Inca Orchid does not have much hair to brush, their skin requires frequent washing. It is important to find the right balance of creams and moisturizers that will keep the dog’s skin strong and resistant to tears and scratches.

Other than skin and dental problems, the Peruvian Inca Orchid is exceptionally healthy. Some suffer from epilepsy and irritable bowel disease. It is very important to prevent the usage of pesticides around these dogs, as their skin absorbs toxins easily.

Historically, the Peruvian Inca Orchid traces its ancestry back to pre-Inca cultures. They were household companions and guard dogs. Legend has it they could stop stomach pain by sitting on the afflicted area. The Peruvian Inca Orchids were almost exterminated by the Spanish in their conquest of the South American empires.
