The Pomapoo combines the best of Pomeranians and Poodles. These dogs are friendly, non-shedding and affectionate. Pomapoos are ideal for households with children and other small pets. Their temperament is not always predictable, as it is largely dependant on the bloodlines of the parent dogs. Children should also be made aware that these dogs are fragile and boisterous play can cause them harm.

These dogs can be ideal for elderly people, or those who are at home for long stretches of time. Pomapoos enjoy being indoors and engaging in all sorts of games. They also enjoy a daily walk and maintain robust energy throughout the day. It is not good to let these dogs off a leash outdoors, as they can easily get lost or hurt in traffic.

Pomapoos tend to be gregarious and need toys and other things to occupy their minds. These dogs tend to be curious and like to explore the world around them. While Pomapoos are good with their families, they can be hesitant with strangers.

Like most mixed breed dogs, Pomapoos are typically exceptionally healthy. Considering Pomeranians have dental problems, Pomapoos should be checked carefully for tartar and other tooth related problems. For the most part, Pomapoos are clean and easy to groom. Weekly brushing is usually sufficient to prevent mats and tangles. Nails should be kept short.

Because Pomapoos are a designer breed of dog, there is very little historical information. Their parent dogs have occupied households for hundreds of years. Poodles, in particular, have been used as guard dogs, show dogs and status symbols.
