Strong and powerful, the Siberian is a large cat with solid hind legs. This semi-longhair feline comes in a multitude of colors and is distinguished not only by its size, but also its plush fur and large and expressive eyes. Slow to mature, the Siberian can take up to five years to reach full adulthood form.

Because the back legs are longer and the Siberian has such a strong hind quarter, these athletic cats are known for being exceptional jumpers able to reach incredible heights. Something of a show-off, your Siberian will never cease to amaze you with acrobatic feats. Because the Siberian is so active, it's not recommended for owners who are looking for a more docile pet.

Bred for centuries, the Siberian is an incredibly loyal and affectionate companion. These striking cats are sometimes compared to dogs because of how well they bond with owners. Your Siberian will often greet you at the door or seek you out for a game of fetch. Though there have been no full scientific studies, the Siberian is believed to be fairly hypoallergenic and may be a good fit for those who are allergic to cats. Of course, people with allergies should always try handling a cat for an extended period of time before making a full commitment.

One of the oldest breeds, the Siberian has existed for thousands of years and is the national cat of Russia.
