This breed usually has striped hooves. It can have any base coat color such as bay or black. Common coat patterns include blanket with or without spots, snowflake, or a roan with or without spots.
The Tiger Horse is very gentle and affectionate, but also a proud animal. They are very intelligent spirited, ranging from docile and calm to racier and a little hotter. The most common use for the Tiger Horse is in the show ring or as a trail horse. They are prized for their ability to perform an intermediate four-beat gait that is very comfortable for the rider and is sometimes referred to as an “Indian shuffle.”
Legend says the Tiger Horse was once used to hunt Siberian Tigers in the Heavenly Mountains District. The ancient Tiger Horse lived in Iberia and was a favorite with the nobility and the wealthy because of its stunning color. Though its numbers were reduced and the breed degenerated, it is fortunately making an impressive comeback.
