A national treasure in Turkey, the Turkish Angora is a very rare, but beautiful breed. Often seen in their natural white color, the Angora boasts a bushy tail and very long, silky coat, both probably designed to protect it during cold mountain winters. The Angora's fine bone structure and pointed ears give it a fox like appearance.

The Turkish Angora is both sociable and adaptable. This laid back cat adjusts well to strangers and makes a good choice for the elderly or small children. They are also often quite accepting of other pets in the household, though will try to assert themselves as the number one.

Like the Turkish Van, the Turkish Angora is very comfortable around water and will often learn how to turn on faucets to play with water or sometimes hop into a running shower.

It's important to note, the Turkish Angora carries what is called the W gene. This trait is what causes the white fur, blue eyes, and sometimes deafness. Though rare, the odd-eye gene (that is, two eyes of differing colors) is also common in Turkish Angoras.

The Turkish Angora is a natural breed from Turkey, where it is a protected treasure. All pedigree Turkish Angoras must be able to trace their roots back to Turkey.
